According to Mr. Tuyen, many businesses and room renters in this hotel apartment project have been struggling due to the change in the management board. Although before bringing customers in, the owner as well as the business unit had full documents and personal information of the customers.
"The building management board here has arbitrarily set up and installed a facial recognition system (Face ID) instead of a step-up and step-down card to open the elevator without the consent of the residents. For this reason, many foreign guests are reluctant to book rooms because it involves sensitive personal data" - Mr. Tuyen said.
Not only affecting business, residents living in Wyndham Danang Golden Bay hotel apartments feel upset when the management board does not ask for opinions and arbitrarily changes the management method.
According to many residents, not only installing the system themselves, they all have a common worry of fear of having their personal information and images leaked.
"If the data is not provided as required by the management board, the step card to open the elevator will become useless. spending billions to buy but I may not be able to get my apartment if I do not provide Face ID data as requested" - residents described the awkward situation at Wyndham Danang Golden Bay.
At the meeting with residents on the morning of September 9, the representative of administrative management at Wyndham Danang Golden Bay informed that the building currently has more than 1,000 apartments.
Wyndham Danang Golden Bay has 3 customer streams such as short-term stays of the hotel (about more than 700 apartments); Many households have received their houses and are living in hotel apartments; Some households have received their houses but rent them out directly or authorized a third unit to exploit them.
Through many incidents such as guests using banned substances, being unconscious... to ensure security and order for the building, the hotel has established a Face ID system. The hotel does not make any trouble, imposing or taking personal information data to sell outside.
According to Lao Dong's private source, on the morning of September 10, the police asked the Management Board of Wyndham Danang Golden Bay to temporarily postpone the Face ID deployment plan in the elevator area.
During the postponement period, the management board will re-activate all elevator cards for everyone and residents to travel.
"Many apartments are rented out for a long time, but some apartments here are only rented out for a few days. To ensure security, the unit was forced to deploy Face ID and arrange additional personnel in the lobby.
Somehow, the unit hopes that if the apartment owner or business unit can commit to the police, support the building, thereby coordinating with the parties to grasp the information of who the guests are" - said a representative of the management department of Wyndham Danang Golden Bay.
