Important notes when designing a kitchen

From the kitchen position, table height, cabinet design to equipment choice, everything needs to be calculated to bring convenience and comfort to the kitchen.

When designing a kitchen, many people often only focus on choosing a quality kitchen. However, in addition to equipment, the arrangement of space and functional areas is the decisive factor in convenience during use.

The stove should not be placed too close to the wall. It is best to leave a minimum distance of 20 cm to avoid collisions when operating. At the same time, the distance between the stove and the sink should also be wide enough, creating a convenient space for food pre-processing and cooking.

If the area is permitted, a kitchen island combined with a sink should be arranged. This design helps users to both pre-process and cook, while creating more space to place food and utensils, making the kitchen neater and more scientific.

The height of the kitchen counter surface also needs to be calculated to suit the user's physique to limit shoulder and back fatigue when cooking. According to design experience, the height of the preliminary processing table can be calculated according to the formula: body height/2 + 5 cm. Meanwhile, the cooking surface is usually about 5-8 cm lower than the preliminary processing table. However, these are only reference parameters and should be adjusted according to the usage habits of each family.

Kitchen cabinets are items that need to be carefully calculated instead of assigning the entirety to the design unit. Users should directly participate in deciding how to arrange cabinets, shelves and accessories to suit living habits.

Unifying the kitchen cabinet design before constructing the electrical and plumbing system is also very important. For example, if you want to install LED lights inside the cabinet, the location of the power line needs to be determined from the beginning to avoid incurring later repair costs.

In addition, cabinet compartments should not be designed too large because it will be difficult to arrange small items. Instead, cabinets should be divided into many compartments of different sizes to optimize storage capacity and make taking things more convenient.

An important principle is to choose electrical appliances such as ovens, dishwashers, microwaves, refrigerators... before completing the kitchen cabinet design. This helps the construction unit accurately calculate the size of cabinet compartments and installation space, avoiding the situation where the equipment does not fit or protrudes outwards, losing the aesthetics of the entire kitchen.
