Dan Hoa Commune People's Committee has just issued a notice warning about the situation of subjects impersonating state agencies calling and texting to defraud people related to land procedures.
According to reports, recently, many people have received calls from strange numbers, claiming to be officials of state agencies or people of local authorities. The subjects require people to carry out procedures such as updating Land Use Right Certificates, supplementing housing information, verifying land records, and even requesting personal information or transferring money to "complete procedures".
Dan Hoa Commune People's Committee affirmed that currently the locality does not organize the collection, review or request for updates of land and housing data via telephone. At the same time, this agency also does not conduct private phone calls to request people to provide information, complete procedures or transfer money in any form.
According to the Commune People's Committee, the above-mentioned calls are acts of impersonating state agencies for the purpose of fraud, potentially causing property damage and leaking personal information of people.
To prevent this, local authorities recommend that people not provide personal information such as citizen identification cards, household registration books, bank accounts to strangers by phone; do not transfer money or follow requests from calls of unknown origin.
When there is a need to resolve administrative procedures, people need to go directly to the public administrative service point or contact through official channels that have been publicized. In case of receiving a suspicious call, it is necessary to proactively verify or immediately report to the police agency for guidance on handling.
Dan Hoa Commune People's Committee also requested people to widely share warning information, especially to the elderly, in order to raise vigilance and avoid being exploited for fraud by bad actors.
