Direction of living room and bedroom
In the interior space, the direction of the living room and bedroom is the top priority.
The living room is a common living space and is used the most. Therefore, the south-facing living room is considered ideal, with warm sunshine in winter and cool breezes in summer, creating a pleasant feeling all year round.
The bedroom is also very important because it directly affects the quality of rest.
For small apartments with only one bedroom, priority should be given to bedrooms in the same direction as the overall house, preferably in the South.
For houses with 2-3 bedrooms, the rooms can be arranged differently. South-facing bedrooms are still more popular, but rooms close to the outer wall should be avoided.
In the summer, a south-facing bedroom, although with cool breezes, also receives more sunlight than a north-facing bedroom. If the outer wall is facing the West, the room may be directly exposed to the sun all afternoon, causing the temperature to rise. In addition to the South, Southeast, East and Northeast directions are also acceptable choices for the bedroom.
Kitchen and bathroom direction
Bathrooms are often damp, prone to bacteria, so they need good lighting and ventilation. Bathrooms facing the West should be limited because they easily absorb heat and cause stuffiness.
The kitchen is a place that creates a lot of smoke and odors when cooking, so it is necessary to exchange air regularly with the outside. Natural ventilation is often not enough to handle large amounts of smoke in a short time, so it is necessary to install additional odor absorbers or fans. In terms of direction, the stove should not be placed in the North if possible.
Therefore, when choosing the direction of the house and arranging the rooms, it is necessary to consider harmony between light, ventilation and climate characteristics to ensure a comfortable, sustainable and healthy living space.
