Contrary to many fans' expectations, Paul Pogba said he still wants to stick with Juventus, instead of finding a new destination after officially ending his ban for doping. In an interview with Gazzetta dello Sport, the former Manchester United midfielder showed his desire to soon contribute again to the "Old Lady" of Turin.
"I'm willing to give up money to contribute to Juventus again. I really want to come back" - Pogba shared.
When asked how he would feel if he received a call from captain Thiago Motta to discuss his future, Pogba did not hesitate to share: "The final answer is always the action on the pitch. He will make his own assessment based on what he sees on the pitch. Whatever the current rumors are, I really want to return to the Juventus squad and the French team. I still want to be one of the best stars."
Pogba has such hope because Thiago Motta said Juventus is still in the process of re-evaluating their star. On a personal level, the Italian captain described Pogba as a great player despite not playing football for a long time.
However, according to Italian media, Juventus is still trying to find a way to terminate Pogba's contract. During his return to the Allianz Stadium from Man United, the French star suffered from constant injuries and did not contribute much. Juventus is not sure if giving the 31-year-old midfielder another chance, how much he can contribute.
Pogba's number 10 shirt was transferred to Kenan Yildiz by Juventus in August. Pogba's last match for Juventus was on September 3, 2023, against Empoli. From his return in 2022 until his retirement due to injury and suspension, Pogba only played 9 times for the Old Lady, a number that disappointed everyone.
"Pogboom's" current contract with Juventus runs until the summer of 2026. Before being punished, he and Dusan Vlahovic were the club's highest paid players.
Now that the team's core is stable, Pogba has a hard time breaking into the squad. Juventus is no longer in a monopoly position like in previous years in Serie A, so they cannot risk making quick decisions. From now until the 2025 winter transfer window, perhaps Pogba's future will be clear. Right now, he should probably look for a new destination.
