Manchester City confirmed that Pep Guardiola will leave his position as head coach this summer, ending the most glorious decade in the club's history.
The announcement was made by the Etihad Stadium team, just two days before Guardiola's last match as Man City coach against Aston Villa.
The Spanish strategist decided to activate an early contract termination clause, although his current contract is still valid until June 2027.
After leaving the coaching bench, Guardiola will take on the role of global ambassador and technical advisor for the City Football Group system.
Closing a 10-year journey at the Etihad, Guardiola left with a collection of 20 titles, including 6 Premier League championships, 3 FA Cups, 5 League Cups, 1 Champions League and 1 FIFA Club World Cup.
Speaking about the decision to leave, Guardiola said: "Don't ask why I left. There is no specific reason at all, but deep down I know that it's time to stop.
Nothing lasts forever. If it did, maybe I would have stayed here. What lasts forever is the emotions, people, memories and love I have for Manchester City".
The 55-year-old captain also expressed his gratitude to the city of Manchester - which he considers his second home in his career.
This is a city built from labor and hard work. You can feel it through each brick, people working from early morning to late at night, through industrial history, music and fighting spirit.
My teams also have that spirit. We work, endure, fight and win in our own way" - Guardiola said.
