Overview
The 3-1 victory in the first leg gave the Turkish team a big advantage before the second leg. Hungary played well and created many opportunities but their finishing was not good. In contrast, Türkiye showed sharpness in attack, converting all three shots on target into goals.
Hungary is currently at risk of playing in League B next season. Coach Marco Rossi's team has not been in good form, having lost 5, drawn 3 and won only 2 of their last 10 matches.
Hungary have not won in their last 4 home matches, including 3 draws. This is a big step back from them when they had previously won 9/10 home matches. The recent disappointing performances at home showed that the chance to create a surprise for Dominik Szoboszlai and his teammates in the second leg was not high.
For Turkey, a draw, even a minimal loss in Hungary will still help them continue. Therefore, this team will easily play in the second leg. They can start cautiously, prioritize solidity and wait for the opponent to make mistakes when advancing to organize counter-attacks.
Coach Vincenzo Montella's team, although not in good away form (losing 5/11 recent matches), has a large gap after the first leg to help them play with a more relaxed mentality.
Although Hungary has home advantage and high determination, the gap of 2 goals is very difficult to reverse. Hungary also does not have a strong attack, scoring only 4 goals in 6 matches in the Nations League group stage this season. Therefore, it is difficult to expect them to beat Türkiye in the next match.
Personnel situation
While Marco Rossi may adjust his tactics a little, his expected lineup will not change much from the first leg. Szoboszlai, Milos Kerkez and Barnabas Varga will all keep their positions up front.
On the other side of the front line, Turkey are not concerned about injuries and will play with a formation similar to the first leg. Scoreowners Orkun Kokcu, Kerem Akturkoglu and Hakan Calhanoglu are all expected to feature in attack.
Expected lineup:
Hungary: Dibusz, Orban, Fiola, Dadai, great, Schafer, Nikitscher, Bolla, Kekez, Szoboszlai, Varga.
Turkey: Cakir, Ayhan, Akaydin, Bardakci, Elmali, Aydin, Calhanoglu, Kokcu, Akturkoglu, Yildiz, Yilmaz.
The match between Hungary and Türkiye takes place at 0:00 am on March 24 (Vietnam time).
