The French derby between Marseille and Paris Saint Germain in Ligue 1 last weekend left a bad impression. At the end of the match, the players could not control and fought each other. Four players were sent off, and Neymar was the fifth to receive a red card after the referee reviewed VAR.
That was the situation where the Brazilian striker slapped Alvaro Gonzalez in the face on Marseille's side. Neymar later said that his opponent had discriminated against him by calling him a dirty monkey. The 28-year-old later expressed regret for not punching that son in the face, he wrote on Twitter.
Despite being discriminated against, according to RMC Sport, based on the regulations of the Disciplinary Committee of the French Professional Championship (LFP), an aggressive behavior outside football like Neymar did could result in a 7-match suspension. And if the reason for the red card is that he intentionally attacked, he could have to sit out 6 games.
Meanwhile, Gonzalez justified on his Twitter page that he had not done or spoken any racialism. However, the Disciplinary Committee will still review the case on September 16 for specific investigation. If he is determined to have insulted and discriminated against Neymar, the Spaniard will be suspended for 10 matches.
Due to the seriousness of the incident, the Disciplinary Committee may delay the decision for 1 week but Neymar will be suspended for PSG's match against Metz this weekend.
