In 2021, Binh Dinh was promoted to V.League. Thanks to financial support with a budget of up to 300 billion VND for 3 seasons (average 100 billion VND/season), the team from the land of Vo immediately rose to the same level as the rich and ambitious teams in the national championship.
To concretize the desire to compete for the V.League championship, Binh Dinh continuously recruits famous stars to Quy Nhon Stadium. This club spends no less than 13 billion VND and a salary of hundreds of millions of VND/month to have the service of goalkeeper Dang Van Lam.
Right-back Ho Tan Tai is said to have received about 10 billion VND in signings for a long-term contract with his hometown team. They also agreed to pay 10.5 billion VND in signings for 3 seasons and a salary of 70 million VND/month to center back Tran Dinh Trong.
In addition, a series of national players and former national players such as Mac Hong Quan, Nghiem Xuan Tu, Ha Duc Chinh, Ly Cong Hoang Anh also arrived at Binh Dinh port with valuable contracts.
Not to mention that during his peak, Binh Dinh was the destination of the top 4 strikers of V.League in the last 5 years, Nguyen Xuan Son (Rafaelson), Hendrio, Alan and Leo Artur.
Unfortunately, despite receiving an investment of up to 300 billion VND, Binh Dinh could not win the championship title during this period. In the 2022 season, the team from the land of Vo only won the bronze medal in the V.League and the runner-up of the National Cup.
In the 2023-2024 season, in the context of Binh Dinh starting to lose money, they unexpectedly won the V.League runner-up position.
Long slips
But the V.League runner-up title last season was both a pressure and the reason for pushing Binh Dinh to the bottom in the 2024-2025 season.
In fact, in the second leg of last season, Binh Dinh's financial picture began to be gloomy. The departure of coach Nguyen Duc Thang is one of the signs that the investment capital for the team has been cut.
Due to not having enough money to extend the contract, Binh Dinh also parted ways with Van Lam, Dinh Trong, Thanh Thinh, Ngoc Bao, Alan, Leo Artur and a number of other faces. Remember, it was this series of stars that contributed to helping the home team Quy Nhon Stadium win the runner-up position of V.League 2023-2024. And when they left, Binh Dinh could not add any face with similar qualifications.
Pregnant in the process of building personnel, Binh Dinh has encountered difficulties right from the first stage of V.League 2024-2025. Although the sponsor has added investment funds in the second leg, it is too late.
In the context of other clubs competing steadily in the finishing stage, Binh Dinh cannot recruit more quality players. In addition, due to health problems, coach Bui Doan Quang Huy had difficulty following the team's progress for most of the season.

Binh Dinh's decline comes from "eating soap" and lack of long-term strategic planning. They are willing to spend tens or hundreds of billions of VND for the transfer market but do not invest enough in local youth football.

In the end, getting rich and then falling into poverty like Binh Dinh club is not new. The history of V.League has witnessed many similar cases and also seen how some teams overcame that storm.
Thanh Hoa once had a very rich period with investment from a famous real estate group. After this enterprise withdrew, the Thanh team, despite difficulties, still persevered in the V.League. This partly comes from dedicated buyers and especially internal strength, when they have young talents and veteran players who are devoted to their homeland.
Unfortunately, fans have not seen that in Binh Dinh!
