Doan Ngoc Tan out for 3-4 weeks after Van Hau's foul

AN NGUYÊN |

Doan Ngoc Tan will be out for about 3-4 weeks to recover from injury after Doan Van Hau's dangerous foul.

Recently, Doan Ngoc Tan went for a X-ray and injury check after a collision with Doan Van Hau in the match between The Cong Viettel and Cong An Hanoi.

The results showed that the midfielder born in 1994 suffered from ligament edema and bone marrow edema, thereby having to be out of action for about 3-4 weeks. This means he will miss the match of The Cong Viettel at the AFC Champions League Two on September 15.

Previously, Doan Ngoc Tan was injured after a challenge with Doan Van Hau in the 67th minute. In the midfield situation, the The Cong Viettel midfielder successfully intercepted the ball, but Van Hau kicked his foot in the shin, near the opponent's ankle.

The midfielder born in 1994 could not continue playing and was substituted out. After checking VAR, referee Ngo Duy Lan issued a direct red card to Van Hau.

Speaking in the press conference room, coach Popov said: The referee showed Van Hau a red card, so I don't know what to say. I think the red card for him is deserved. This is football and we cannot control everything.

This is also a pity because Ngoc Tan will hardly be able to return to the Vietnamese national team in the gathering towards the FIFA ASEAN Cup 2026. Over the past time, he has been trying very hard to return to the national team after injuries he suffered in the previous season when he played for Thanh Hoa.

Although Van Hau received a direct red card, this defender may face additional penalties from the Disciplinary Committee of the Vietnam Football Federation.
