According to the latest information from the Lebanese Football Federation (FLFA), flight conditions from this country are currently facing many difficulties. Therefore, the plan to go to Vietnam to participate in an international friendly tournament during the FIFA Days in October 2024 of the national men's football team is still uncertain.
The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) shares the difficulties of FLFA and continues to keep in touch with the national football federation to agree on appropriate solutions.
In case the Lebanese team cannot come to Vietnam, the VFF will have to urgently find a replacement opponent for the Vietnamese team. Because FIFA Days is an opportunity for coach Kim Sang-sik's team to compete, accumulate expertise, and prepare for tournaments such as the AFF Cup 2024 and the Asian Cup 2027 qualifiers, having many opponents to face is what the VFF wants to aim for.
However, this is not a simple matter because most of the teams have friendly matches scheduled in the context that FIFA Days will start in just 3 days. In case there is no suitable team to participate in the tournament, it is likely that the match between Vietnam and India will be organized in a home-away format.
To prepare for the international friendly tournament on the occasion of FIFA Days in October, on October 2, head coach Kim Sang-sik announced the list of players to be called up for the Vietnam national team. The team welcomed the return of outstanding players such as defender Bui Hoang Viet Anh, midfielder Le Pham Thanh Long, To Van Vu, Chau Ngoc Quang, veteran striker Nguyen Van Quyet, etc.
In addition, coach Kim Sang-sik also increased the youth of the team by creating more opportunities for players under 23 years old such as goalkeeper Nguyen Van Viet, Tran Trung Kien, defender Giap Tuan Duong, midfielder Khuat Van Khang, Nguyen Van Truong, Nguyen Thai Son, striker Nguyen Dinh Bac, Bui Vi Hao, Nguyen Quoc Viet...
According to the plan, the Vietnamese team will start training from October 5 at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center. On October 8, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will move to Nam Dinh to prepare for the first friendly match on the occasion of FIFA Days in October 2024, against the Indian team on October 9 at Thien Truong Stadium.
