Vietnam team match schedule on FIFA Days in October

HOÀNG HUÊ |

The Vietnam team has two friendly matches against Lebanon and India on FIFA Days in October 2024.

Continuing the preparation for the Southeast Asian Championship - ASEAN Cup 2024, the Vietnamese team will have 2 more quality international friendly matches, organized by the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) on the occasion of FIFA Days next October.

The two guest teams selected by VFF to compete with the Vietnamese team are the Lebanese team and the Indian team. These are two teams with a level that is considered quite equal to the Vietnamese team, so it will be convenient for head coach Kim Sang-sik to have good preparation before entering the race at the ASEAN Cup 2024.

In the new rankings announced by the International Football Federation, the Lebanese team has risen 2 places to 114th in the world, 2 places above the Vietnamese team. Meanwhile, due to poor performance at the Intercontinental Cup friendly tournament last September, the Indian team has dropped 2 places and is ranked 126th.

In the most recent confrontation history, the Vietnamese team and the Lebanese team met twice in the 2011 Asian Cup qualifiers. At that time, the Vietnamese team won 3-1 in the first leg at My Dinh Stadium and drew 1-1 in the second leg away.

As for the Indian team, the Vietnamese team has only tried their hand in international friendly matches, one match in 2010 (lost 1-3) and one match in 2022 (won 3-0).

To prepare for FIFA Days in October 2024, the Vietnam national team is expected to gather again on October 5, after finishing round 4 of V.League 2024-2025.

The international friendly matches of FIFA Days in October 2024 organized by VFF will take place from October 9 to October 15 at Thien Truong Stadium, Nam Dinh. With the enthusiastic cheers of a large number of fans, the "fire pan" of Thanh Nam has become the fulcrum to help the Vietnamese team win the two friendly matches on the occasion of FIFA Days in June and September 2023, respectively against Syria (won 1-0) and Palestine (won 2-0).
