This morning (December 30), player Ho Tan Tai was taken by the Vietnamese team's doctor for an MRI scan to determine the extent of the injury he suffered in the second leg of the ASEAN Cup 2024 semi-final against Singapore on the evening of December 29.
According to the results, Tan Tai only suffered a contusion of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee. He did not require surgery but is expected to need about 6-8 weeks of treatment and recovery.
This means that the defender of the Hanoi Police team will not be able to participate in the upcoming two final matches with the Vietnamese team. Tan Tai is the second case of the team having to say goodbye to the tournament after striker Nguyen Van Toan.
Previously, in the 90+7 minute of the second leg semi-final between Vietnam and Singapore in Viet Tri, defender Nguyen Van Vi had a beautiful pass into the penalty area for Ho Tan Tai.
The 27-year-old player tried to control the ball to eliminate the Singapore defender. However, he slipped slightly and injured his knee. Doctors came in to check and Tan Tai had to leave the field even though he had only been on the field as a substitute for a few minutes.
Besides Ho Tan Tai, in the recent semi-final match, coach Kim Sang-sik also had a headache when Van Thanh and Xuan Manh both left the field due to minor injuries.
In the context of the force being affected, the Korean coach and his colleagues must have careful calculations to compensate for the loss, especially the full-back position, to best prepare for the two upcoming final matches.
