On the afternoon of March 20, U22 Vietnam had the opening match against U22 Korea at the 2025 CFA Team China friendly tournament.
Striker Nguyen Thanh Nhan opened the scoring for the "Golden Star Warriors" in the 51st minute. Although the whole team tried to maintain the advantage, a moment of negligence from the defense helped U22 Korea equalize 1-1 in the last minute.
Evaluating the result of the match, head coach Dinh Hong Vinh said: Today's match is an important test for U22 Vietnam.
Regardless of the result, the important thing is that we have the opportunity to compete with quality opponents, thereby drawing valuable lessons.
The players played with a good spirit, following the set tactics, but there are still points that need improvement towards long-term goals".
The captain of U22 Vietnam added: "I highly appreciate the efforts of the players. They have shown solidarity, adherence to tactics and are not afraid of collisions against strong opponents.
However, the team still has shortcomings, especially in the ability to control the tempo of the match and handle decisive situations. We will continue to analyze to help the players improve.
Regarding the preparation plan for the match against U22 Uzbekistan, coach Dinh Hong Vinh said that U22 Uzbekistan is a team with a very disciplined physique, physical strength and playing style.
Therefore, the coaching staff and players will focus on recovering their physical strength, adjusting tactics appropriately and preparing the players mentally best.
This will be a difficult match, but it is also an opportunity for U22 Vietnam to continue to assert themselves and experiment with new tactical options, said Mr. Vinh.
According to the match schedule, U22 Vietnam will face U22 Uzbekistan at 6:35 p.m. on March 23.
