After nearly 2 weeks of training at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, under the guidance of head coach Mai Duc Chung, 23 players of the Vietnam women's team have completed their preparations and are ready to go to China to participate in a friendly tournament.
According to the plan, the Vietnamese women's team will leave for China on October 21. Before the competition, the female players will play a friendly match with the veteran Thanh Tri team on the afternoon of October 18 so that the coaching staff can review the team one last time and assemble the squad.
Evaluating the recent training process, head coach Mai Duc Chung said that the team was very lucky to prepare to meet opponents who were considered to be of high quality, as the Chinese women's team was a team of good quality, ranked higher than Vietnam. The Uzbekistan team was on par with Vietnam. These were the opponents that Tuyet Dung and her teammates could compete with in the Asian region.
During their time at the Vietnam Youth Football Training Center, the coaching staff mainly focused on training the players' physical strength, alternating between practice matches to practice tactics as well as arranging the team for competition.
"The team still needs to improve a lot, especially in terms of physical strength. We are short in stature, so if we want to meet the competition requirements, we need to improve our physical strength even more. This time, the team's training time is a bit short because it depends on the players competing in domestic and international tournaments, so we cannot gather early. If we have more time to practice, I think the players' physical strength will be better, ensuring better expertise," said coach Mai Duc Chung.
Evaluating the young players called up to the national team, coach Mai Duc Chung said that rejuvenating the team is a journey for all teams to have the next generation. If there is no good next generation, the results will not be good.
Mr. Chung emphasized: "We constantly change, often creating opportunities for different young players to join the women's team to practice and get acquainted, then we can send them back and invite others, not fix a few people.
Of course, athletes who are playing well will be in the plan to join the national team. That is my way of training. Therefore, there are also many young players in this batch with the purpose of training them to approach the team more, be more suitable and coordinate better with the seniors."
Meanwhile, midfielder Nguyen Thi Tuyet Dung said that the team's spirit is currently very comfortable and happy in every training session. Tuyet Dung herself and the whole team are very excited to be able to compete in the upcoming tournament in China.
Commenting on the upcoming opponents, Tuyet Dung said: "The Chinese women's team is one of the strongest teams in Asia. The match with host China will help the whole team gain more experience. The coaching staff's preparation for the whole team is currently very good.
Due to the very short preparation time, the coaching staff will improve their physical strength and perfect their technical and tactical skills. During this time, there will also be some useful friendly matches to prepare for the tournament in the best way possible."
Evaluating the young players, Tuyet Dung said that the current young players have integrated well and have a progressive spirit. The whole team is united from training to competition for a common goal.
