After finishing second in the 2024-2025 National First Division, Cong Phuong and the Binh Phuoc team will play a play-off match to compete for a place in the 2025-2026 V.League with Da Nang, the team behind in the 2024-2025 V.League. The match will take place at 6:00 p.m. on June 27 at Thong Nhat Stadium (HCMC).

The leaders of the Binh Phuoc team have given Cong Phuong and his teammates a big bonus if they win this match. This is considered an extremely strong "denting storm" to give Binh Phuoc more motivation before the confrontation with Da Nang.
However, the history of the playoffs over the past 10 years shows that no team in the First Division can defeat the underdogs of V.League to win promotion.
Accordingly, in the 2016 season, Dong Tam Long An club defeated the representative of the First Division, Viettel, with a score of 1-0 after 120 minutes of competition, thereby playing in the 2017 V.League.
In the 2018 V.League season, Nam Dinh club is ranked 13th on the rankings and will have to play a play-off match with First Division club Hanoi B to compete for a place in the 2019 V.League. Nam Dinh won with a score of 5-3 after a penalty shootout of 11m (a 0-0 draw after 90 minutes), thereby continuing to stay in the V.League playground.
After the 2019 V.League season, Thanh Hoa club was allowed to continue participating in the 2020 V.League after defeating Pho Hien team with a score of 1-0 in the 2019 play-off match. Most recently, Ha Tinh club won 3-2 PVF-CAND to participate in V.League 2024-2025.

Evidence shows that, despite having to play the play-off match to stay in the First Division with representatives, the V.League teams still showed their superiority.
According to the regulations, the Da Nang team will not be allowed to use foreign players when facing Binh Phuoc in the play-off match. This is considered a disadvantage for the representative of Central football, however, this team is also very eager to win to continue competing in the V.League next season.
