On the evening of December 30, the Thai team won 3-1 against the Philippines in the second leg of the ASEAN Cup 2024 semi-finals. Thanks to that, the War Elephants won a ticket to the final with a total score of 4-3.
They will be the opponents of the Vietnamese team in the journey to conquer the 3rd Southeast Asian championship in history.
The Vietnamese team will play the first leg of the final at Viet Tri Stadium, Phu Tho on January 2, 2025. After that, coach Kim Sang-sik and his team will travel to Rajamangala Stadium (Thailand).
The organizers have started selling tickets for the final match in Viet Tri, with three ticket prices: 1,000,000 VND/ticket, 700,000 VND/ticket and 500,000 VND/ticket. The organizers only sell online via the OneU app. In previous matches, Viet Tri Stadium was almost full of spectators, with over 15,000 people coming to cheer.
The festive atmosphere here will be a support for the Vietnamese team. As the defending champions, the War Elephants are still a formidable opponent even though they do not have their strongest squad.
Previously, the two teams met in the final of the ASEAN Cup 2023 (formerly known as the AFF Cup). In the first leg, the Vietnamese team drew 2-2 at My Dinh Stadium, then lost 0-1 away, finishing second overall.
