Hanoi - On May 22, the Vietnam Bank Union opened the "Banking Industry Digital Transformation" Contest 2026.

Proactive Digitalization - Breakthrough Future

The contest is organized by the Vietnam Bank Union, is an activity to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam Bank (May 6, 1951 - May 6, 2026) and respond to the Banking Industry Digital Transformation Day 2026 (May 11, 2026). Vietnam Joint Stock Commercial Bank for Foreign Trade - Vietcombank is a companion and coordinating organization.

With the close direction of the Party Committee, the Board of Directors of the State Bank and the involvement of 32 units including 23 commercial banks and credit institutions; 9 units directly under the State Bank, Foreign Banks and Fintech Company. The contest shows the strong determination of the entire banking industry in promoting digital transformation, innovation and making positive contributions to the national digital transformation process.

With the slogan "Proactive Digitalization - Breakthrough Future", the Contest is not only a professional competition but also an intellectual playground to concretize the movement "Digital Literacy". The core goal is to popularize and improve knowledge in digital transformation in the Banking industry, focusing on groups of issues related to: Data - Digital Assets; Customers - Digital Experience; Digital Technology - Platform; Management - Operation - Strategy; Human Resources - Digital Culture; Legal - Personal - Compliance; Safety - Security - Privacy; Practical Application and Handling of Emergencies. In addition, through the Contest, units will "contribute ideas" to optimize processes, improve customer experience in a safe and secure digital environment.

The 2026 contest inherits and promotes the values from the 2024 contest with the theme "Green banking for a green life". Creative ideas "contributed" and awarded prizes from the 2024 contest have been realized by units, making an important contribution to promoting the green transformation process, minimizing environmental impacts and shaping the social responsibility of the Vietnamese banking industry. The shift from "Green" to "Digitalization" is a dual strategy for the banking industry to develop sustainably in the new era.

Digital transformation is becoming an inevitable trend

Speaking at the opening of the Contest, Mr. Pham Tien Dung - Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, Chairman of the Vietnam Bank Union, Head of the Steering Committee and Organizing Committee of the Contest emphasized that digital transformation is becoming an inevitable trend, an important driving force to promote economic growth, improve labor productivity and national competitiveness. For the banking industry, one of the pioneering industries in applying science and technology and innovation, digital transformation is not only an objective requirement but also a strategic task to build a modern, safe and transparent financial ecosystem.

In the past time, under the leadership of the Party, Government and State Bank of Vietnam, the entire banking industry has actively implemented many synchronous solutions to promote comprehensive digital transformation: Completing the legal corridor, developing digital infrastructure, expanding non-cash payments, applying artificial intelligence, big data, electronic identification and many modern technologies in banking operations. Credit institutions, financial technology companies and units in the industry have proactively innovated management models, improved customer experience and built a digital culture throughout the system.

In that context, the Banking Industry Trade Union organization always identifies its role as not only representing, caring for, and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of union members and employees, but also always accompanying and standing side by side with professionals in performing the political tasks of the industry. Trade unions at all levels have actively propagated and mobilized union members and employees to raise awareness about digital transformation; launched many emulation movements, innovation initiatives, applying technology to work; encouraging the spirit of learning, innovation and adapting to new development requirements. The close companionship between trade union organizations and professionals has contributed to creating a comprehensive strength, promoting the digital transformation process throughout the industry to take place more strongly and effectively.

The contest has the participation of more than 600 contestants from 32 typical units. The teams will go through 3 rounds of competition staged modernly, applying maximum technology.

In which, Round 1 - Enhancing strength: Introducing the identity and digital transformation messages of each unit. Round 2 - Conquering the digital age: Contest to learn knowledge about digital transformation in the Banking industry in the form of multiple-choice questions directly on tablets. Round 3 - Creating a digital future: Presenting ideas/suggestions on digital transformation in the Banking industry.
