Valentine's Day is not only an occasion to give meaningful gifts or express love, but also a time to be together and share everything. Therefore, take advantage of this time to prepare delicious and unique dishes to treat your partner.
Among them, the rich Pastrami-marinated steak served with soft, fragrant grilled cabbage will make the couple's dinner more romantic.
To prepare Pastrami-style marinated steak, prepare 2 beef tenderloin or ribeye (each piece about 250g); 5g ground black pepper; 5g crushed mustard seeds; 3g paprika; 5g minced garlic; 3g sea salt; 3g brown sugar; 15ml olive oil; 1/2 green cabbage; 15ml olive oil; 3g salt; 3g ground pepper; 5g minced garlic; 3g chili powder (optional).
Once you have prepared your ingredients, marinate the beef by mixing together black pepper, mustard seeds, paprika, minced garlic, salt, brown sugar and olive oil in a small bowl.
Apply this mixture evenly on both sides of the beef, pressing lightly to help the spices penetrate better. Wrap the meat tightly and leave in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes to 2 hours to let the meat absorb the flavors better.
Preheat the oven to 200°C. Place the shredded cabbage on a baking tray, drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with salt, pepper, minced garlic and chilli powder. Bake for about 20 minutes until the cabbage is tender and golden brown.
Heat a cast iron skillet or grill over high heat, add a little olive oil to the pan and sear each steak, about 3-4 minutes per side for medium rare, or adjust to desired doneness. Once seared, let the steak rest for about 5 minutes before slicing to retain its juiciness.
Before serving, the steak should be thinly sliced and served on a plate with grilled cabbage. You can garnish it with a few basil leaves or parsley to make it more appealing.
Pastrami-marinated steak will be more delicious and flavorful when served with a glass of excellent red wine.
