According to Article 37 of the 2025 Law on Employment, employees who meet the following conditions will be supported with training to improve their vocational skills:
(1) Employees receiving unemployment benefits are supported with training and vocational skills improvement.
(2) In case the employee is not a subject specified in Clause 1), he/she must meet the following conditions:
- Belong to the subjects specified in Point a, Clause 1, Article 38 of the 2025 Law on Employment;
- Having submitted a request for training support and vocational skills improvement within 12 months from the date of termination of the labor contract, employment contract or termination of employment;
- Within 10 working days from the date of submission of a complete application for training support and vocational skills improvement for workers who are not employed and are subject to compulsory social insurance as prescribed in the Law on Social Insurance or perform military service, service in the People's Public Security, regular militia or study for a period of more than 12 months or comply with the decision to apply the measure of being sent to compulsory education institutions, compulsory drug rehabilitation facilities or being detained, serving a prison sentence or settling abroad or dying;
- Having paid unemployment insurance for at least 9 months within 36 months before the termination of the labor contract, employment contract or termination of employment.
(3) The period of support for training and improving vocational skills is implemented according to the course and study period, but the total support period is not more than 6 months.
(4) The content of supporting training and improving vocational skills includes:
- Tuition fees;
- Meal for employees during the time participating in training and improving their professional skills.
Thus, from January 1, 2026, workers who meet the above conditions will be supported with vocational skills training to improve their qualifications.
