On July 18, the Confederation of Labor of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province and the Confederation of Labor of Vung Tau city organized a visit to encourage female sanitation worker Nguyen Thi Phuong, who was a victim in a serious traffic accident on the evening of June 27 in Vung Tau, causing by a female driver driving a car with an alcohol level above average.
Through sharing, Ms. Phuong said that she is treating 3 injuries at the same time including: lung contusion and effusion; liver contusion level 3; broken ribs. At the same time, the spine was also affected by the accident.
"I was at work when I... passed out, didn't know anything. When I woke up, I found myself lying on air at the hospital, my whole body aching," Ms. Phuong recounted in shock.
Currently, Ms. Phuong is still in active treatment. Although her liver and lungs are gradually recovering, her broken ribs make her unable to sit and have to lie down.
"The doctor said it would take at least 3 more months to recover temporarily. During this time, in addition to taking medication, I also have to do exercises to quickly stabilize," Ms. Phuong said.
Organize visits and encouragement for female workers in difficult circumstances
Hearing the bad news that his daughter had an accident, Mr. HTT (Ms. Phuong's biological mother, 76 years old) quickly traveled from Gia Lai to Vung Tau to visit, take care of, and support, because the family was difficult and in need. .
Currently, four people in Ms. Phuong's family live in a house built from bamboo walls, shielded by corrugated iron sheets. The couple's income is just over 12 million VND/month but they have to raise 2 children who are in their 3rd year of college and have just entered 12th grade.
During the incident, in addition to the treatment support provided by health insurance, the family spent tens of millions of dong to treat Ms. Phuong. Currently, every 7 days, Ms. Phuong has to be re-examined, and because she cannot sit, she has to spend nearly 1 million VND to rent an ambulance to take her to the hospital.
"Up to now, the family has never seen the car owner or the driver's family come to visit. But through this, we can clearly see the union's concern, as many delegations have come to visit and encourage us. The company delegation also visited the hospital in Vung Tau, and even when I had to move to Ho Chi Minh City for treatment," Ms. Phuong said.
On the occasion of the visit, Mr. Le Van Hoa - Chairman of the Provincial Labor Federation sent greetings of encouragement and wished Ms. Phuong a quick recovery. At the same time, the Provincial Confederation of Labor and the Confederation of Labor of Vung Tau City also sent support gifts to the family.
In addition, Mr. Hoa also directed the Provincial Labor Confederation's Legal Policy Committee to accompany the family and support union members in completing procedures to enjoy labor accident benefits when Ms. Phuong had an incident while working. , as well as other content if workers need support.
From July 17 to 19, the Confederation of Labor of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province organized delegations to visit and give gifts to union members and workers in difficult circumstances; or suffer from labor accidents or occupational diseases in the province. Thereby , deductions from the union fund to support 300 union members and workers in extremely difficult circumstances, suffering from labor accidents, serious diseases... total cost of more than 330 million VND.
