Entrust 100 billion VND to support workers to borrow capital
From 2024 to 2028, Da Nang will balance to entrust 50 billion VND in loans to disadvantaged subjects who are officials, civil servants of districts, wards, communes, non-professional workers of wards and communes; employees with indefinite-term contracts working in agencies and units at district and commune levels with grassroots trade unions under the District and Commune Labor Federation.
Lending an additional 50 billion VND to employees residing in Da Nang, working in enterprises with grassroots unions at all levels, and union members in public service units who are not eligible for loans under Resolution No. 33 of the Da Nang City People's Council.
At the training session on lending guidance in mid-October, the City Labor Federation and the Da Nang branch of the Social Policy Bank provided guidance on lending program operations to officials and civil servants at the district and commune levels. Representatives of the Da Nang branch of the Social Policy Bank conveyed some contents related to lending guidance to union members who are officials, civil servants, non-professional workers, and workers.
According to the Da Nang City Labor Federation, when this loan reaches union members, civil servants, and workers, it will help them fight against the problem of black credit when they need money to cover their living expenses when they encounter unexpected difficulties.
No more worries about black credit
Every year, thousands of workers come to work and stay temporarily in Da Nang City’s industrial parks. Therefore, loan sharks often choose areas near Hoa Khanh Industrial Park (Lien Chieu District) and Hoa Cam Industrial Park (Cam Le District) to approach workers.
According to some workers, loan sharks often entice workers to borrow money with the invitation of "low interest rates, simple procedures" so that workers have money to solve their work and cover their living expenses. After that, workers are constantly pressured by loan sharks to collect debts, causing the lives of workers who borrow money to be turned upside down. However, in the past 2 years, at self-managed workers' group No. 22 (Cam Le district, Da Nang city), this situation no longer exists.
Ms. Phuong, who is temporarily residing in a workers' housing area (Cam Le district), said that many times, loan sharks and hot money lenders came to her and were willing to help her borrow money, but she immediately refused.
“Many times I have heard about the harmful effects of hot loans and black credit loans, so I am somewhat hesitant. Moreover, I am getting older this year, realizing that I am not able to pay back if I borrow money, so I have refused all forms of loans,” Ms. Phuong said.
The workers' housing area is located in the self-managed workers' group No. 22. Therefore, the workers here are informed every week and every month about legal policies and forms of fraud on the internet, especially the harmful effects of loan sharking and illegal credit.
Mr. Le Van Dai - Vice President of Da Nang City Labor Federation: "Recently, the situation of loan sharking and illegal credit among workers in Da Nang City has occurred frequently.
However, to overcome those black credits, the Da Nang City Labor Federation also implemented a loan program from the poor workers fund of the City Labor Federation.
