Workers receive free health check-ups and consultations
Present early, in the program "Workers' Health Day 2025" recently organized by the Ben Thanh Ward Trade Union in coordination with the Saigon International General Clinic, Mr. Lam Van Ut - a long-time cyclo rider in Ben Thanh Ward, Ho Chi Minh City - was very happy to receive free health check-ups and consultations.
Mr. Ut confided that cycling is very health-consuming, but due to difficult conditions, he rarely has the opportunity to see a doctor or get health consultation. Thanks to the support of the union, workers can receive free medical examinations and health consultations, so they are very happy.
Similarly, Mr. Dang Thanh Hoa - who also cyclo drives like Mr. Ut - felt happy to receive free health check-ups and consultations in the program organized by the union. Mr. Hoa said: "Due to the nature of a hard job and often working outdoors, being examined for a health check-up is practical and helps him feel secure in sticking with the job. Thank you very much to the union".
Doctor Trinh Tan Lap - Chairman of the Saigon International General Clinic Trade Union - emphasized that the program aims to support union members and workers in difficult circumstances. Union members and workers receive general examinations, ultrasounds, free electrocardiograms from doctors with specialists in cardiology, blood pressure, diabetes, eyes, ears - nose - throat, instructions on common disease prevention, nutritional consultation, dietary methods, lifestyle adjustment to suit professional health.
Previously, the An Hoi Tay Ward Trade Union, Ho Chi Minh City also coordinated with Saigon - Ngo Gia Tu Eye Hospital to organize the "Union Bright Eye" program in 2025. The program will be implemented until September 30, 2025, thereby providing free eye examinations and medicine to 1,000 union members and workers at many examination points at enterprises and the People's Committee of An Hoi Tay Ward, each point from 100 - 150 people. At the same time, eye surgery costs were supported for 10 cases, each worth 16 million VND. The total cost of this activity is 360 million VND. All examination, consultation and medicine costs are supported free of charge, ensuring compliance with legal regulations, safety and effectiveness. Thereby raising public awareness of preventing eye diseases, contributing to reducing the burden of disease, creating conditions for workers to feel secure in production.
Helping workers raise awareness about health care
In addition to the activities of the ward union, the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation also organized the second "For the health of workers" program in 2025 for female workers.
Nearly 200 female workers at Son Tung Company Limited were examined for free by a team of doctors, medical technicians, and staff of the Department of Population and Family Planning of Ho Chi Minh City, provided with consultation, health care, ultrasound and cancer screening to help detect underlying diseases early, thereby allowing timely treatment and prevention of dangerous complications.
Each worker participating in the program was also given a gift mobilized by the Reproductive Health Clinic - Family Planning and a part of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation. The total cost of organizing the program is more than 140 million VND.
Mr. Huynh Vinh Lam - Chairman of the Ben Thanh Ward Trade Union - said that the program "Workers' Health Day 2025" does not only stop at free health check-ups, the program also aims to raise awareness about health care.
Ms. Nguyen Kim Loan - Vice President of the Ho Chi Minh City Labor Federation - suggested that Ho Chi Minh City trade unions at all levels, depending on actual conditions, proactively coordinate with business leaders and health welfare units to pay attention and create conditions for care so that union members and workers have the best health, thereby contributing to improving labor productivity, stabilizing life and maintaining family happiness. At the same time, it is hoped that each union member and employee should proactively pay more attention to their health and increase physical exercise.
