Her hands quickly cut each bed of green mustard greens still covered in mist, she neatly put them in baskets to prepare for transfer to the wholesale market.

Ms. Thuong's family has nearly 3,000m2 of land growing short-term vegetables such as mustard greens, lettuce, and herbs. In Tran Yen commune, after a series of simultaneous cuttings before Tet, the mulberry trees that seemed barren have now sprouted, grown buds, and the new leaves are lush and fat.
At this time, people take care of mulberries after felling: Fertilizing, tilling the soil, pruning buds, keeping moisture for plants to recover quickly, focusing efforts on nurturing leaves for the spring-summer silkworm crop. This is considered the most important crop of the year, deciding most of the cocoon output and income of the whole family.
According to Ms. Nguyen Thi Tuyet Nga - Chairwoman of the Farmers' Association of Tran Yen commune, after more than 20 years of putting mulberry trees into concentrated planting, the whole commune now has 700ha of mulberry, forming a large-scale commodity production area.
After Tet, we mobilize members to improve the area of old mulberry trees, expand high-yield varieties and apply advanced care techniques to improve the quality of cocoons," Ms. Nga said.
