In mid-July, under the hot summer sun of the mountain town, Lao Dong Newspaper reporters had the opportunity to meet Mr. Nguyen Dinh Dien - Deputy Head of the General Management Team, General Management Team 1, Luong Son Power Company.
Among 11 volunteers who volunteered to support the construction and installation of the 500kV line 3 in Nghe An province of Hoa Binh province, in Luong Son district, he was the only one selected for this team.
Quickly wiping the sweat from his forehead after fixing the electrical problem in Luong Son town, Mr. Dien shared: "If I could choose again, I would probably still choose the electricity industry, still choose Hoa Binh to stick with. Because this is not only fate but also "debt".
Through conversation, it is known that Mr. Dien was born and raised in his hometown Ung Hoa, old Ha Tay (now Hanoi). In 1998, after graduating from the major of power line and transformer station management (Electrical Engineering Vocational Training School), he chose Lac Son district, Hoa Binh province as the place to start working. In 2000, he was transferred to work as a worker at Luong Son Power Branch (now Luong Son Power Company).
"There are many memories of the job, 26 years of hard work, both happy and sad. However, the most recent and memorable was the 36 days and nights of supporting the construction and installation of the 500kV line 3. Under the hot sun, sometimes up to 38 degrees Celsius, the Lao wind burned my face, I had to change at least 2 sets of clothes every day, sweating like I was taking a shower, but every day was the same, a working day for the brothers started at 5:30 am and ended at 6:30 pm, from dawn to sunset.
"In fact, the construction atmosphere at the site is always exciting. Even though we come from many different localities, everyone is excited, enthusiastic, and tries their best to support the project to finish as soon as possible," Mr. Dien confided.
According to this worker, for electricity workers, there are nights when the rooster crows and an incident occurs, and they still have to wake up while sleeping to fix it. Or on extremely hot days, when the temperature outside reaches 40 degrees Celsius, they still have to stand on poles to fix it. But he never thought he had a hard time, because that was the job he chose.
"Choosing the electricity industry means choosing hardship and sacrifice, so I have never been discouraged by any difficulty" - this worker added.
Mr. Ngo Dinh Quang - Chairman of the Trade Union of Hoa Binh Province Electricity Company commented: "Comrade Nguyen Dinh Dien is a dedicated cadre, excellently completing assigned tasks, making many contributions to trade union activities, always caring and supporting colleagues and workers in the unit".
According to Mr. Quang, with his tireless efforts, for many consecutive years, comrade Nguyen Dinh Dien has achieved the title of Advanced Worker, Excellent Worker, and Certificate of Merit from Vietnam Electricity Group.
