According to many leaked sources, the MacBook Ultra will be Apple's most high-end MacBook with a series of notable changes such as touch screens, OLED panels, Dynamic Island and many other upgrades.
Initially, this device was predicted to be named the new generation MacBook Pro, but there is increasing information that Apple will create a completely separate product line.
The MacBook Ultra is expected to use processors from the M6 series, likely including the M6 Pro and M6 Max versions. If Apple maintains the MacBook Pro and MacBook Ultra lines in parallel, the MacBook Pro may only be upgraded with the M6 chip, while the MacBook Ultra plays the role of the most high-end model.
Notably, expert Mark Gurman once said that the M6 chip may appear "sooner than people think". This assessment was made right after he said that the MacBook Pro or MacBook Ultra will only be launched at the end of the year, raising the possibility that Apple will equip M6 for some other Mac models first.
Because the iPad Pro is unlikely to be refreshed this year, the bright candidates to receive the M6 chip early include iMac, Mac mini and Mac Studio - products that have not yet been upgraded to the M5 chip.
If the rumors come true, this fall may mark Apple's first launch of a MacBook Ultra line, expanding its high-end MacBook portfolio alongside the traditional MacBook Pro.
