The Vietnam IT market report for the period 2024-2025 published by TopDev shows that the IT job market in Vietnam is witnessing an unprecedented boom, especially in areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), big data, cloud computing and cybersecurity.
The demand for high-tech personnel is growing rapidly, with salaries for professionals in these fields continuously increasing.
According to the report, the average salary of programmers in Vietnam in 2024 is estimated to range from 1,100-3,000 USD/month (27-73 million VND), depending on skills and experience.
In particular, specialized positions like AI engineers and information security specialists can command salaries far above the average, thanks to the scarcity of talent and the importance of these roles in businesses.
Figures from the Ministry of Information and Communications also show that the Vietnamese IT market needs to add at least 500,000 technology workers from now until 2025 to meet demand. This poses an urgent requirement for businesses.
Besides, computer science profession is and will need a large amount of human resources.
In the report assessing the current status of support policies for cadres, civil servants, public employees and people working in digital transformation, network safety and security, the Ministry of Home Affairs gave its assessment of the current policies and regimes for people working in digital transformation, network safety and security.
The report stated that the team of information technology (IT) specialists performing the tasks of digital transformation, safety and network security plays a very important role in deploying IT applications in agencies, organizations and units to achieve the goal of national digital transformation and e-Government.
In order to maximize the use and effectiveness of technology in the digital transformation process, it is essential to recruit, train, maintain and develop human resources.
Therefore, in addition to building a synchronous and modern IT infrastructure and a quality working environment, an urgent requirement today is to have reasonable policies and regimes for the team working in digital transformation, safety and network security in state agencies to retain and create conditions for cadres, civil servants and public employees to work with peace of mind.
According to the synthesis of reported data from 33 central agencies (Party Committees, ministries, ministerial-level agencies, and government agencies) and 54 localities, the demand for IT-qualified people is much greater than the number of assigned staffing quotas:
2021: Using 12,152/6,310 staffing targets;
2022: Using 12,628/6,451 staffing targets;
2023: Use 16,166/7,105 staffing targets.
