Culture passed down to young people
Preserving Vietnamese ethnic culture in general, and ethnic minority culture in particular, is a particularly important issue that local Party committees and authorities are concerned about.
In Kon Braih commune, Quang Ngai province, the launch of the Xo Dang ethnic Folk Culture Club, Kon Buu village, has shown the determination to preserve, maintain and spread the traditional cultural values of the nation to the younger generation.
At the launching ceremony of the Xo Dang ethnic folk culture club in Kon Buu village, a unique cultural activity space of the Xo Dang ethnic group was vividly recreated by 51 artisans through water fountain lighting festival performances, gongs - xoang, performances of Klong But, Ting Ning, To Rung ethnic musical instruments and folk songs.
The birth of the Folk Culture Club is not only a place to preserve cultural values that are facing the risk of fading, but also becomes an intuitive "classroom" for the young generation in the village to understand, love and be more proud of the tradition of their nation.
A Thien An, a 5th grade student in Kon Buu village, expressed: "I really like the folk cultural performances of my ethnic group. I will try to learn good gong lessons to serve the village festival later.
Ms. Y Huong shared: "I myself try to continue the generation of fathers and grandfathers, preserve and promote the traditional cultural values of the nation. I will propagate and mobilize members and young generations to develop and preserve together.
Community spirit and solidarity from the cultural source
Village elder A Hiang, Kon Buu village, confided: The Xo Dang people here believe that water is more important than anything. Life is good and prosperous thanks to the water source.
The water fountain is a place for people to meet, chat, and connect the community. Therefore, the water fountain has become a cultural symbol that is both close and sacred in the life of the Xo Dang people.
Mr. A Dung, Head of the Xo Dang ethnic minority folk culture club of Kon Buu village, said: The establishment of the club is a great joy for people in the village. The club will maintain a regular and constantly developing lifestyle, attracting more new members, especially the younger generation to participate.
With the attention of the local government, in recent years, the Xo Dang people in Kon Buu village have always strived to preserve and maintain the traditional culture of the nation. Most recently, in 2025, the village was opened by the Commune People's Committee to teach gongs and xoang dances to more than 20 teenagers in the village.
