At the Southern Pali Intermediate Cultural School, Deputy Minister Y Thong expressed his pleasure to meet with compatriots, officials, monks, including many former leaders, dignitaries, and typical intellectuals of the Khmer people. He emphasized that these are "important nuclei in consolidating the great national unity bloc, religious unity", and at the same time acknowledged the contributions of compatriots in the cause of national liberation and construction and defense of the Fatherland.
Sending New Year greetings to the Khmer people on the occasion of the Chol Chnam Thmay Tet, Deputy Minister Y Thong acknowledged that in the past time, the people have always believed in the leadership of the Party, complied with the law, actively worked and studied, contributing to socio-economic development. He expressed his belief that the people will continue to promote the tradition of solidarity, joining hands to build their homeland and country.

Deputy Minister Y Thong also emphasized the role of ethnic education. The Southern Pali Cultural Secondary School is assessed as a "specialized facility, both teaching general culture and training Pali - Khmer language", contributing to improving people's knowledge, training human resources, and preserving Khmer cultural identity. Ethnic boarding schools continue to promote their role, creating conditions for ethnic minority children to study and rise up.
At the Khmer Southern Buddhist Academy, Venerable Dao Nhu - Vice Chairman of the Executive Council of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha, Director of the Academy - said that the Academy in Can Tho City is one of the four academies allowed to be established by the Government and the Government Committee for Religious Affairs since 2006. The formation of the Academy meets the learning needs, improves the qualifications of the Khmer people, and contributes to building a learning society.

Venerable Dao Nhu affirmed that he will continue to mobilize monks, Buddhists and Khmer people to preserve their language and writing, promote good customs and practices, implement Buddhist affairs well, and accompany the nation.

Speaking at the Academy, Deputy Minister Y Thong said that, besides its educational mission, the Academy is also a vivid "cultural preservation center", contributing to preserving the identity and spreading the humanistic values of the Khmer people. Despite the difficulties in facilities and resources, he believes that with the attention of central ministries and branches and the government of Can Tho City, the Academy will continue to develop, becoming a "typical nucleus" in the field of Buddhism, from improving people's knowledge, fostering talent to training Khmer intellectuals.
According to the Deputy Minister, this is a practical action to concretize the national guidelines and policies of the Party and the State, especially to effectively implement Directive No. 19 of the Secretariat in the new situation.
