H'Mong boys and girls compete in making banh giay in the mountains and forests of Lai Chau

    In Lao Chai I village, Khun Ha commune, Lai Chau province, a banh giay pounding competition of the H'Mong ethnic people has just taken place.

    Participating in the contest are 13 teams from 13 villages of the commune, the maximum time of the contest is 120 minutes. The contest is held on March 28, 2026.

    For the H'Mong people, banh giay is not only a familiar dish but also holds a particularly important position in spiritual and cultural life, especially every Tet and spring.
