Coming to Hon Me hamlet, Tho Son commune, Hon Dat district, Kien Giang province, all Khmer people here know Mr. Danh Loi, a prestigious person among ethnic minorities. Mr. Loi not only sets an example in life, develops the family economy but also supports and guides Khmer people to live and work according to the Party's policies and the State's laws.
From a Khmer farmer with a difficult starting point, but thanks to diligence and effort, Mr. Danh Loi has overcome difficulties to become rich. Currently, his family owns 30 hectares of rice land and 20 hectares of mango land, bringing in an annual income of about 360 million VND. A stable life, all children are fully educated, that is the joy and sweet fruit of Mr. Loi's spirit of overcoming difficulties and perseverance.
Not only good at economics, Mr. Danh Loi also enthusiastically shares his production experience with the people, helping many families improve their income and stabilize their lives. Thanks to his dedicated guidance, many Khmer households have risen out of poverty. He coordinates with organizations and unions to review and create conditions for disadvantaged households to borrow capital from policy banks. In 2024, 18 poor and near-poor households of Khmer ethnic people have escaped poverty and risen up to become rich legitimately.
As a prestigious person among ethnic minorities, he is always a pioneer in propagating and mobilizing people to implement policies on ethnicity, religion and poverty reduction programs.
Mr. Loi shared: “Currently, our people are given many conditions to develop the economy, and are given material investment, so life is much more convenient. The important thing is that our people do not listen to the instigation of bad people, must be alert to identify, focus on doing business, developing the economy to get rich.”
Mr. Loi said that he also went to training courses to learn from the experiences of the programs organized by the Ethnic Committee to propagate to the Khmer people, helping them change their lives. Propagating the construction of new rural areas, opening roads, beautifying the countryside, houses, keeping the environment clean... the people are very supportive of the implementation.
Mr. Danh Loi regularly coordinates with local authorities, guiding the pagoda to perform legal rituals, not allowing bad elements to take advantage of beliefs and religions to cause disunity. He also encourages people to organize economical rituals, not to be extravagant and wasteful, and to teach their children to stay away from social evils.
Mr. Danh Duong - Head of the Board of Directors of Hon Me Pagoda said: Mr. Danh Loi has a strong spirit of working for the welfare and development of the Khmer people.
"Mr. Loi and the pagoda mobilize Buddhists to comply with the policies of the Party and the State. The customs and rituals of ethnic minorities have also changed a lot. We keep what is necessary, preserve what is not suitable, and remove outdated things, and people are very supportive," Mr. Duong shared.
In addition, Mr. Loi also cares about education, encouraging people to send their children to school. In the hamlet where he lives, the rate of Khmer children entering first grade is 100%, with no dropouts. These efforts contribute to changing awareness and improving the quality of life of the community.
