Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religious Affairs visits and encourages people in distress in Lai Chau

The working delegation of the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions visited and encouraged ethnic minorities who suffered heavy losses due to natural disasters and fires in Lai Chau.

On June 24, according to the Electronic Information Portal of the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions, in Le Loi commune (Lai Chau), a delegation from the Ministry of Ethnic Minorities and Religions just arrived in Pa Don village to share the loss with the family of Mr. Pan Van Lo (Mang ethnicity). In the early morning of April 26, 2026, when the couple was away from work, the house caught fire, killing 3 young children who locked the door to sleep inside. The fire completely burned down the house, spreading to Pa Don elementary school and neighbors' houses.

The delegation continued to Mit Thai village, Pac Ta commune to visit 3 households whose relatives died due to landslides. During the heavy rain from June 8 to June 10, 2026, 3 young men including Ly Van Toan, Ha Van Duc (Thai ethnicity) and Vang A Thanh (Mong ethnicity) who went to work in the forest were swept away and buried by landslides and rocks.

Representing the delegation, Mr. Ma The Luan - Deputy Director of the Department of Ethnic Minority and Religious Affairs Propaganda - sent his deepest condolences to the relatives of the families, encouraged the relatives to suppress their grief, overcome adversity, and at the same time presented gifts and financial support according to regulations to the families.

The Department's leaders also requested the locality to urgently support people to rebuild their houses, restore production, and soon stabilize their lives.

The visit shows the practical concern of the Party and State for ethnic minorities, ensuring that support policies are implemented promptly and to the right people.
