At the Training and Professional Development Center, Gia Lai Provincial Police just organized the opening ceremony of the 2026 Khmer ethnic minority language and neighboring Cambodian language training class for 74 officers and soldiers.
Attending the opening ceremony were Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hung Cuong, Deputy Head of the Organization and Personnel Department; Lieutenant Colonel Nay Dam Ka, Director of the Training and Professional Development Center; representatives of Tra Vinh Continuing Education Center, along with teachers and students.
The class is organized to meet practical work requirements, especially in grassroots areas and areas bordering Cambodia. Students include leaders, commanders, officials of some professional departments; officials and commanders of police in communes bordering Cambodia and key and complex communes in terms of national security, order, and social safety.

During 54 days of intensive study, students are equipped with basic knowledge of Khmer language, from consonants, vowels, rhyming to communication topics; and at the same time practice listening, speaking, reading, writing skills and learn about the culture, customs, habits, and traditions of the Khmer people. The program combines theory, practice, review and year-end tests. Students who complete the program are certified according to regulations.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hung Cuong emphasized that understanding the culture, customs, habits and using the language of ethnic minorities is important for officers and soldiers in performing their duties. This is the basis for improving the effectiveness of propaganda and mobilization of the masses, building a movement for the whole people to protect national security, prevent and combat crime, and maintain security and order at the grassroots level.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Hung Cuong requested students to uphold the spirit of responsibility, proactively research, actively train, strictly comply with the regulations of the People's Police and the class regulations. The Training and Professional Development Center is required to closely coordinate with the Department of Organization and Personnel and the teaching staff in class management, maintain a regular learning routine, ensure facilities and teaching conditions.
Through the training class, officers and soldiers gradually improve their Khmer language proficiency in communication and work, shorten language distance, strengthen closeness with the people, contributing to improving the effectiveness of ensuring security and order at the grassroots level and coordinating to maintain security in border areas.
