In recent years, thanks to the attention and investment of the Party and State, traffic infrastructure in ethnic minority areas in Can Tho City has been invested synchronously, many rural roads have been concreted, creating favorable conditions for people to travel and trade, contributing to promoting socio-economic development, according to the Can Tho City Police Electronic Information Portal.
However, along with the increase in vehicles, ensuring traffic order and safety in rural areas raises many new requirements. A part of the population, especially Khmer ethnic people, still has limited awareness and awareness of complying with traffic laws.
Faced with that reality, My Huong Commune Police (Can Tho) has advised local Party committees and authorities to implement many solutions for propaganda, dissemination, and legal education to raise people's awareness and build a safe traffic culture in the Khmer ethnic minority area.
My Huong commune has an area of more than 100km2, a population of more than 52,000 people, of which Khmer ethnic people account for over 57% of the population. Identifying propaganda as a key task, the Commune Police Command directs officers to diversify propaganda forms, suitable to local cultural characteristics, customs and language.

With the motto "going through each alley, knocking on each house, checking each person", commune police officers directly go to residential areas, community activity points and places with a large concentration of Khmer people to disseminate regulations on traffic order and safety.
From the beginning of 2026 to now, the Commune Police has organized 8 propaganda sessions with more than 2,425 participants, distributing over 1,500 leaflets. Through patrol and control work, the police force also reminded more than 18 cases of drying agricultural products on the road causing traffic obstruction and potential risk of accidents.
The content of propaganda focuses on practical regulations such as wearing helmets when participating in traffic; not driving vehicles after using alcohol and beer; not carrying more people than prescribed; not handing over vehicles to people who are not qualified to drive.
Notably, the Commune Police arranged Khmer-speaking officers to directly propagate, helping people easily access information and raise awareness of law compliance. Thanks to that, awareness of ensuring traffic order and safety has many positive changes, contributing to maintaining security, order and limiting violations in the area.
In the coming time, My Huong Commune Police will continue to coordinate with departments, branches, and mass organizations to innovate the content and forms of propaganda in a practical and easy-to-understand direction; promote the role of reputable people in the community and continue to train the team of propagandists, especially cadres who know Khmer language, in order to improve the effectiveness of dissemination and education of laws on traffic order and safety.
