The program aims to raise community awareness about the role of swimming practice, equip safety skills in the water environment and proactively prevent drowning accidents, especially for children.
At the ceremony, Ms. Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc - Deputy Head of the Culture and Social Department of Binh Thanh Ward said that in the past time, the ward has promoted propaganda on electronic information platforms and social networks; organized more than 9 propaganda sessions at schools and neighborhoods; maintained training classes on safe swimming skills, first aid and drowning prevention with more than 820 participants.
At the same time, the locality supported the awarding of more than 1,500 swimming invitation tickets, inspected and recognized swimming universalization for nearly 300 children, contributing to creating conditions for children to access swimming and improve self-defense skills.
Speaking to launch the movement, Ms. Nguyen Thi Phuong - Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, Vice Chairman of Binh Thanh Ward People's Committee emphasized that drowning is one of the leading causes of injuries in children. Practicing swimming not only helps improve health and physical development but is also a necessary life skill to help each person proactively protect themselves from dangerous situations in the water environment.
The Vice Chairman of Binh Thanh Ward People's Committee called on agencies, units, schools, mass organizations and the entire people to continue to join hands to effectively implement the work of preventing child drowning. At the same time, pay attention to creating conditions for children to learn to swim, learn safety skills in the water environment, contributing to building a safe and healthy living environment for future generations.
