On July 20, the University of Economics and Law, Vietnam National University Ho Chi Minh City and the Border Guard Command (BĐBP) of Lam Dong province organized a conference to summarize, exchange and hand over the results of implementing science and technology tasks with the theme "Researching and evaluating the quality of domestic water sources and proposing solutions to ensure safe water supply at border posts on the mainland border line of Lam Dong province".
The conference aims to receive and evaluate research results to serve as a basis for implementing solutions to ensure clean water sources, contributing to improving the quality of life and health for officers and soldiers on duty at the border.
The topic focuses on comprehensively assessing the current status of domestic water quality at border posts on the land border line of Lam Dong province; identifying indicators that may affect the health and living conditions of officers and soldiers, thereby proposing safe water supply solutions suitable to the actual conditions of each unit.
The project is implemented in an inter-sectoral approach, combining water quality analysis according to physico-chemical indicators, heavy metals, natural radiation measurement in water samples with sociological surveys, interviews with commanding officers and assessing the urgency and feasibility of proposed solutions.
Based on the research results, the implementation group proposed combining short-term and long-term solutions. In the short term, priority is given to installing temporary filtration equipment at high-risk points, adding rainwater tanks and ensuring direct drinking water sources at taps.
In the long term, it is proposed to deploy a modular well water treatment model including the stages: intermediate tank, oxidation, multi-layer filtration, activated carbon, water softening, purification, UF/RO membrane, disinfection and finished product storage tank.
The handover of scientific and technological task results is an important basis for units to research and develop roadmaps for investment and upgrading water supply systems at border posts, contributing to ensuring health and improving the quality of life of officers and soldiers, meeting the requirements of performing the task of managing and protecting sovereignty and border security in the new situation.
