The sea area managed by Navy Region 2 has an area of over 300,000 km2, stretching from South Binh Thuan to Ca Mau. This is where many traditional fish farms gather, attached to the livelihoods of millions of fishermen.
For officers and soldiers of Region 2, environmental protection is always considered an inseparable task in all military activities, training and daily activities.

At the Training Center, which trains human resources for frontline units to protect the sea, the model island "100 VND House" has become a familiar lifestyle. After training hours, equipment maintenance or physical training, the soldiers will collect and classify the waste. Recycled plastic waste such as bottles and plastic boxes are collected into the "100 VND House", then sold to raise funds or used to organize internal activities such as team birthdays, sports competitions, and cultural activities.
Senior Lieutenant Truong Huu Phat, Deputy Secretary of the Central grassroots Youth Union, said: "The model not only creates a green - clean - beautiful landscape but also raises awareness of environmental protection for each soldier from the first day of military service".
Meanwhile, on ships on long-term missions at sea, waste treatment is strictly organized. Organic waste such as leftover food and vegetables are broken down naturally or are kept secret, absolutely not discharged into the sea. Inorganic waste such as plastic and metal bottles is collected, safely stored and brought to the mainland for treatment. Hacious wastes such as oils, fats, and chemicals are stored in specialized tanks and handed over to specialized treatment units.

At DK1 boats in the open, officers and soldiers maintain the habit of classifying waste, saving maximum fresh water and fuel. Thanks to being equipped with solar panels, current displacement houses use clean energy for daily use. Rainwater is also widely utilized for daily life and growing green vegetables in recycled foam boxes.
Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Trung Duc, Political Commissar of the DK1 Battalion, shared: "We grow organic waste for fertilizer, while solid waste is carefully stored, waiting for supplies ships to bring it to the mainland for treatment. Absolutely do not release any type of waste into the sea".

Not only stopping at units, Naval Region 2 also actively participates in community activities such as the "voluntary Saturday", "Green Sunday" programs or the "Cleaning the Coast - Preserving the Blue Sea" movement. Tons of garbage drifting along the coast have been collected, returning a clean and beautiful environment to tourist areas, beaches and coastal fishing villages.
