The Naval Academy has just held the opening ceremony of the 2026 traditional swimming tournament in Khanh Hoa, on April 18. Colonel Nguyen Dinh Giang - Deputy Director of the Academy attended and directed.
Rear Admiral Nguyen Huu Thoan - Political Commissar of the Academy and comrades in the Party Committee, board of directors and a large number of officials, lecturers, students, and soldiers came to watch and cheer.

The swimming tournament is a practical activity towards the 71st anniversary of the founding of the Naval Academy (April 26, 1955 - April 26, 2026), the 51st anniversary of the Liberation of the South, national reunification (April 30, 1975 - April 30, 2026) and International Labor Day May 1.
The activity aims to honor the spirit of overcoming waves and sticking to the sea, spreading the image of Navy soldiers; and at the same time training health and survival skills at sea, strengthening solidarity between units and promoting the image of Nha Trang beach tourism.

The tournament attracted nearly 100 athletes who are officials, lecturers, and students from agencies, departments, and units throughout the Academy. Athletes competed in two events: 1000m swimming for athletes over 45 years old and 3000m for athletes under 45 years old.
Immediately after the opening ceremony, the competition events took place enthusiastically. Athletes showed strong and persistent swimming; a large number of officials, students and soldiers watched and cheered.
Corporal Thai Duy Dat, a student of Battalion 3, who won the third prize in the 3000m event, shared: "Being able to participate in the traditional swimming tournament of the Naval Academy in 2026, I am very honored. This is an opportunity to challenge myself. Compared to the finishing swim part exam, this time I achieved better results and am proud to have surpassed myself.

Speaking at the tournament, Colonel Nguyen Dinh Giang said that the organization was well prepared, ensuring strictness and safety; the equipment system is complete; the refereeing work is serious and objective. The companionship of agencies, units, and businesses in the area contributes to improving the quality and attractiveness of the tournament.
The Deputy Director of the Academy requested agencies and units to continue to maintain the physical training movement, improve the quality of sea swimming training; create an environment to help officials and students improve their ability to adapt to the marine environment, meeting task requirements.
At the end of the tournament, the organizing committee awarded gold, silver, and bronze medals to individuals and cups to outstanding teams. The first prize in 1000m swimming belonged to Colonel Truong Dang Thuan - Chief of Office of the Academy; the first prize in 3000m swimming belonged to Captain Vu Dai Duong, Center for practical training and crew training.

The tournament is also an opportunity to select athletes with good achievements to continue fostering and participating in sports competitions at the military ranks and the Ministry of National Defense.
