On December 26, the People's Council (HPC) of Rach Gia ward (An Giang) held a conference to summarize the activities of the 2021 - 2026 term.
After arranging administrative units, the People's Council of Rach Gia ward is constantly innovating, affirming its role as a state power agency in the locality, representing the will and aspirations of more than 244,800 people in the coastal urban area of the West Coast.
Rach Gia ward was formed on the basis of merging from 9 wards of Rach Gia City (old). The ward has the largest population in the country, is the political - administrative center, integrated economy, marine economy, trading hub and plays a core role in 5 key dynamic urban areas of An Giang province.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Hoan Xuan, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee - Chairwoman of Rach Gia Ward People's Council, said that implementing the 2-level local government model, the organizational structure of the Ward People's Council has made important adjustments to meet the requirements of tasks in the new situation, operating smoothly with a large volume of work.
In the period 2021 - 2026, Rach Gia Ward People's Council successfully organized 30 sessions, with 191 Resolutions issued (of which, the Ward People's Council after the merger issued 26 Resolutions), closely following the reality of socio-economic development, maintaining national defense and security in the locality. The Standing Committee and People's Council Boards conducted 34 supervision and surveys for 60 agencies and units.
Organizing 164 voter contacts, attracting more than 10,000 participants, has definitively resolved 955 opinions and recommendations of voters, bringing many important meanings in terms of politics, society and people's trust.
Towards the 2026 - 2031 term, the activities of the People's Council of Rach Gia ward flexibly adapt to major changes in administrative boundaries, with specific solutions and determination to innovate and build an image of the government "near the people, understanding the people and for the people", worthy of being a reliable fulcrum for the people.
Mr. Mai Hoang Khoi - Secretary of the Party Committee of Rach Gia ward proposed that in the coming time, activities need to pay special attention to effectively implementing the role of the People's Council in representing the will and aspirations and the right to mastery of the People, effectively implementing citizen reception work associated with timely handling of petitions to ensure legal regulations. Promote digital transformation in People's Council activities, strengthen the application of information technology, publicize and transparentize activities so that the People can easily monitor and supervise.
