According to Dien Bien Electronic Information Portal, on the afternoon of June 25, the Military Command (CHQS) of Dien Bien province organized a conference to summarize military and defense work in the first 6 months of the year and deploy tasks for the last 6 months of 2026.
In the first 6 months of the year, the Provincial Military Command has successfully completed military and defense tasks; coordinated to firmly grasp the political security situation in the area, maintained strict combat readiness duty, and complied with military discipline and State law.
The unit proactively coordinates with local Party committees and authorities to perform military and national defense tasks associated with socio-economic development; and at the same time effectively deploys Party work, political work, logistics, technology and military foreign affairs. Officers and soldiers maintain their ideology, are ready to receive and complete all tasks.
Notably, in the "Dien Bien Phu in peacetime" campaign, the armed forces mobilized 13,279 working days, digging 1,292,112 coffee and macadamia planting pits, equivalent to 463.7ha in 39/43 communes. The unit also participated in bomb and mine clearance in Tuyen Quang province on an area of 170ha, ensuring absolute safety.
In addition, the Provincial Military Command coordinated to mobilize nearly 2,600 turns of people and 4 turns of vehicles to participate in disaster recovery, fire and search and rescue; selected and assigned 1,246 citizens to enlist, reaching 100% of the target; managed and arranged reserve forces to reach 100% of the target; consolidated 129 militia and self-defense bases with 12,711 comrades and consolidated cadres of 45 Commune and Ward Military Commands.
Local military forces also coordinated to effectively fight against all kinds of crimes, especially drug crimes, detecting and arresting 49 cases with 57 subjects.
In the last 6 months of 2026, the Provincial Military Command set out 14 key tasks and solutions. In which, focus on maintaining a strict combat readiness regime; firmly grasp the situation of borders and key areas; protect the safety of holidays and political events; adjust combat plans in accordance with the 2-level local government model and reorganize the Regional Defense Command.
The unit also set a goal to build 100% of agencies and units to be comprehensively strong "exemplary and typical"; well implement military enlistment and military recruitment in 2027; promote the "500-day and night campaign to search, repatriate and identify martyrs' remains"; prepare and successfully organize provincial defense area exercises, combat exercises in commune-level defense and civil defense areas, ensuring safety and effectiveness.
On this occasion, the Provincial Military Command commended 3 collectives and 45 individuals with outstanding achievements in implementing Plan No. 1850/KH-UBND dated March 16, 2026 of Dien Bien Provincial People's Committee on organizing the new planting of coffee and macadamia trees and testing low-level space economic development models in 2026.
