Lai Chau Provincial Police have just organized commendation and reward for collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the fight against drug cases, arresting 3 subjects, seizing 9 bricks of heroin, on April 21, according to VNA.
According to the police agency, from the end of March 2026, through professional work, the drug crime investigation police department discovered a group of subjects showing signs of organizing a line of illegal trading and transportation of drugs from Dien Bien province to Lai Chau province. Activities took place in the border area of Dao San, Si Lo Lau, Khong Lao communes, with suspected continued transportation to China for consumption in large quantities.
After verification, the unit reported to the provincial police directorate to establish a special case to fight and dismantle, with the coordination of many forces.
At 12:30 pm on April 15, 2026, on Provincial Road 132, passing through Xin Chai village, Si Lo Lau commune, functional forces caught Ly A Tho (born in 1997, residing in Nam Vi village, Muong Nhe commune, Dien Bien province) red-handed for the act of illegally trading drugs. Seized exhibits included 9 bricks of heroin, weighing 2,947.35 grams, 1 Honda Wave RSX motorbike without license plates, 1 mobile phone and many related documents.
Expanding the investigation, on the same day, the investigative police agency of Lai Chau province urgently arrested and searched Ly A Dia (born in 1991) and Lau A Pao (born in 1987), both residing in Si Lo Lau commune. At Ly A Dia's residence, functional forces seized 1 package containing 2.25 grams of heroin, 1 package containing 2.09 grams of opium resin and many other exhibits.
Currently, the drug crime investigation police department is coordinating with relevant units to consolidate the file, continue to investigate and expand the case, and pursue related subjects for handling according to regulations.
At the commendation ceremony, Standing Vice Chairman of Lai Chau Provincial People's Committee Tong Thanh Hai acknowledged and highly appreciated the spirit of responsibility and efforts of the forces participating in solving the case. The results of the special case are not only of professional significance but also contribute to stabilizing the situation and consolidating people's trust.
Leaders of the Provincial People's Committee requested units to continue to effectively implement the peak plan of the Ministry of Public Security and the Provincial Police on drug prevention and control; promptly detect and dismantle lines and groups on key routes and areas; strengthen coordination between the Police, Border Guards and local authorities. At the same time, promote the role of the people, promote the movement of all people to protect national security, especially in border areas.
