On the morning of June 11, the Military Command (CHQS) of An Giang province organized a Conference to collect opinions to determine the Traditional Day of the Armed Forces (LLVT) of An Giang province after the merger. Major General Nguyen Van Hung, Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Military Party Committee, Commander of the Provincial Military Command chaired the conference.
At the conference, a keynote report was presented on the proposal to recognize the Traditional Day of the People's Armed Forces of An Giang province. According to the report, after implementing the policy of arranging local military organizations, the Provincial Military Command of An Giang was established on the basis of merging the Provincial Military Command of An Giang and the Provincial Military Command of Kien Giang. The determination of the Traditional Day of the People's Armed Forces of the province is of particular importance in traditional education, building political bravery, consolidating the spirit of solidarity and promoting the historical value of local People's Armed Forces in the new period.
Through studying historical documents, opinions from former leaders, commanders and functional agencies, the Provincial Military Command proposed to choose August 26, 1945 - the founding day of the Chau Doc Republican Guard Company, the predecessor unit of the An Giang Provincial Armed Forces (old) - as the Traditional Day of the An Giang Provincial Armed Forces. This is a historical milestone associated with the birth of revolutionary armed forces in the area, contributing to supporting the uprising to seize power in Ha Tien and opening the process of building, fighting, and maturing the local armed forces.
At the conference, delegates focused on discussing and analyzing the historical, legal, traditional and practical basis; and at the same time contributed many heartfelt opinions to select typical timelines, ensuring inheritance, unity and suitability with the construction, combat, and growth process of the Armed Forces of An Giang province after the merger.

Speaking at the conclusion of the conference, Major General Nguyen Van Hung highly appreciated the responsible and enthusiastic contributions of former leaders and commanders through the periods. At the same time, he emphasized that the identification of the Provincial People's Armed Forces Traditional Day is not only an organizational requirement but also has profound political and historical significance, contributing to traditional education, arousing pride and responsibility of officers and soldiers for the cause of building and protecting the Fatherland.
Based on the unanimous opinions at the conference, the Provincial Military Command will continue to complete the dossier and report to competent authorities for consideration and decision on recognizing the Traditional Day of the Armed Forces of An Giang province according to regulations.
