In the early days of the season, the working atmosphere in the fields of Coc San commune became bustling and urgent.
In Chu Cang Ho, Ta Tong Sanh, Xeo Tong Sanh, Lao Vang Chai villages... farmers are busy preparing land and taking care of watermelons that have just been sown.
In 2026, the total watermelon growing area of the whole commune reached nearly 50ha, marking a significant expansion of this crop that brings high economic value.

Right from the end of February to the beginning of March, people have proactively deployed production according to the seasonal framework. Throughout the cultivation process, the Coc San Commune General Service Center has sent agricultural extension officers directly to the grassroots level, guiding techniques from soil preparation, fertilization, planting, care to pest and disease prevention.
Thanks to that, up to now, the entire area has completed planting, the trees grow well, develop evenly, promising positive yields.
Watermelon trees have been planted in Coc San since 2015 and quickly affirmed their suitability for local climate and soil conditions.

Compared to traditional crops such as rice, corn, watermelon, which have advantages of being easy to grow, less pests and diseases, short growing time, and high yields. Therefore, many households have boldly converted crop structures, gradually improving income.
Mr. Chao Dieu Nhan's family, in Chu Cang Ho village, is one of the pioneering households attached to watermelon trees.
With an area of 0.4ha, Mr. Nhan's family harvests an average of 30-35 tons of fruit each year, bringing in a revenue of over 30 million VND. This year, he continues to expand the area and apply new technical advances, thereby being more assured about productivity and product quality.

Similarly, Ms. Lo Siet May's family has been associated with watermelons and native cucumbers for more than a decade. From an area of 1ha, her family earns over 100 million VND per year.
Previously, due to water shortage, the production land only cultivated one rice crop with low efficiency. The conversion to growing watermelons has helped Ms. May's family's economy improve significantly, and life is increasingly stable.

According to the leader of the Coc San Commune General Service Center, in the coming time, the unit will continue to organize technical training classes to support people to improve their production skills, and at the same time promote consumption connections with markets and supermarkets in the area. This is considered an important solution to ensure stable output and limit the situation of bumper crops and price drops.
With the proactiveness of the people and the companionship of the government and specialized sectors, the 2026 watermelon crop in Coc San is expected to achieve both yield and quality.
Not only bringing stable income, watermelon is gradually affirming its role as a key crop, contributing to promoting agricultural economic development and sustainable poverty reduction in the locality.
