On March 30, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism issued a decision on organizing the 6th Cham National Culture Festival in Khanh Hoa province in 2026.
Accordingly, the Ministry assigned the Department of Culture of Vietnamese Ethnic Groups to preside over and coordinate with the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Khanh Hoa province and participating provinces and cities and relevant agencies and units to organize the festival. The expected time is June 2026.
The implementation cost is allocated from the career budget of the National Target Program for socio-economic development of ethnic minority and mountainous areas in 2026.
At the same time, mobilizing additional funds from the host locality (Khanh Hoa province), participating provinces and cities, coordinating units and socialized sources.
Previously, according to the initial plan, the 6th Cham Ethnic Culture Festival was scheduled to take place from December 5 to 7, 2025 in Khanh Hoa, with the participation of delegations of artisans, amateur artists, and athletes of the Cham ethnic people from 6 provinces and cities including: Khanh Hoa, An Giang, Gia Lai, Dak Lak, Lam Dong and Ho Chi Minh City.
However, at the end of November 2025, due to the impact of heavy rain and floods in Khanh Hoa province and central provinces causing serious damage to people and property, affecting people's lives and production, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism agreed with the proposal of the Khanh Hoa Provincial People's Committee, deciding to stop organizing the festival in 2025.
The re-organization of the event in 2026 is expected to contribute to preserving and promoting the traditional cultural values of the Cham ethnic people, while creating a space for cultural exchange between localities.
