Gia Lai province is expected to reduce 1,293 villages and residential groups. Public and democratic consultation is creating widespread consensus among the people before completing the project.

Gia Lai province is implementing the arrangement from 2,693 villages and residential groups to 1,400 units, reducing 1,293 units. Communes and wards have urgently developed projects and organized to collect people's opinions to complete the plan before submitting it to competent authorities for consideration and decision, according to Gia Lai e-Portal.

Currently, the whole province has 2,041 villages and 652 residential groups with a total of 881,520 households, an average of 327 households/village, residential group. Of which, 995 units meet the standards for household size, and 1,698 units do not meet the standards.

According to the overall plan of the Provincial People's Committee, after arrangement, the whole province still has 1,400 villages and residential groups. Among these, 1,262 units meet the standards for household size, accounting for 90.14%. For 138 units that have not met the standards, there are 62 villages in mountainous areas, with scattered populations, difficult transportation, or historical factors; 76 villages have not been arranged due to specific conditions.

This is a large-scale rearrangement, so localities pay special attention to propaganda and collecting people's opinions to create consensus from the grassroots level.

From June 15 - 21, An Phu ward (Gia Lai) organized to collect opinions in 28 residential groups and villages in the area, and at the same time develop personnel plans after arrangement. In KDang commune, the project was widely disseminated through the broadcasting system, party cell meetings, voter contacts and many other appropriate forms. According to local leaders, most people understand the policy and agree with the arrangement plan.

In the process of developing the project, KDang commune also invited village elders and prestigious people to contribute opinions on naming villages and hamlets after arrangement, prioritizing preserving traditional landmarks associated with the residential community.

In residential group 3 Phu Dong, Pleiku ward, people have contributed opinions on the plan to rearrange residential groups 2, 3 and 9 Phu Dong in their original state to establish residential group 11 with a scale of 1,268 households. Besides agreeing with the general policy, many opinions suggested that the government pay attention to arranging appropriate community activity locations after the arrangement.

The collection of opinions is carried out flexibly through residential meetings and residential area Zalo groups. Preliminary statistical results show that the majority of voters agree with the proposed plan.

In KDang commune, the plan to merge Hlang village into Botgrek village and keep the name Botgrek has also received the support of the people. The two communities have many similarities in culture, customs and life; over 95% of the population are Jrai people.

Many localities publicly announced the project on information channels to expand the reception of comments. Tuy Phuoc commune posted the project at the commune People's Committee headquarters, village cultural house, electronic information page and grassroots broadcasting system. Quy Nhon Dong Ward is expected to rearrange from 19 neighborhoods to 9 residential groups, and prioritize restoring historical and cultural landmarks such as Binh Thanh, Nhon Binh, Dong Dinh, Tay Dinh, Thuan Lac, Nhon Hai, Hung Luong, Xuong Ly and Nhon Hoi instead of the previous numbering method.

According to localities, prioritizing the use of traditional place names has received the consensus of the people because it contributes to preserving historical and cultural values and facilitates the identification of residential areas.

Reality shows that, along with ensuring standards on household size, arranging villages and residential groups also facilitates population management, organizing community activities and implementing policies at the grassroots level. Issues of concern to people are all received and answered by the government in the process of completing the project.
