Unstable houses, affecting people's safety
According to updated data up to May 31, 2025 on the reporting software systems of localities, the whole country has supported the removal of 203,048 temporary and dilapidated houses. Of which, 138,671 houses have been completed and 64,377 houses are under construction or under construction.
The results achieved not only clearly reflect the efforts of localities in improving housing conditions for people, but also demonstrate the spirit of solidarity, consensus and common responsibility of the whole society in effectively implementing the goal of poverty reduction and promoting sustainable development nationwide.
This result has a great contribution from the efforts of ministries, branches and localities in joining hands to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses.
At the seminar "Warm home for compatriots: Unusual efforts", Major General Nguyen Hong Nguyen - Deputy Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Public Security - shared that the People's Public Security force has a fairly close perspective and is closely linked to the lives of the grassroots.
According to Major General Nguyen Hong Nguyen, in the past, when grasping the situation in the grassroots area, especially in remote areas, the police force saw that there were a group of people and households, especially in remote areas, lacking, especially lack of housing, or dilapidated, degraded, and uninhabitable housing.
That creates a very deprived living environment in remote rural areas, leading to free migration from the Northwest to the Central Highlands; in addition, being attracted by reactionary forces and anti-terrorism criminals into criminal journeys such as transporting drugs across the border, transporting drugs from the beginning of the supply line to the beginning of the bridge, etc., this risk is very high for security and order.
On the other hand, during the storm season, especially in areas at risk of landslides, flash floods, etc., a significant number of households have unstable, makeshift, and dilapidated houses, with a very high risk, directly affecting the safety of people's lives.
During floods in the Northwest and West of Nghe An, with natural disasters changing in a storm or a prolonged flood, the number of households in the area is affected deeply. This situation reflects the difficulties in life, causing people to fall behind.

Giving people "3 hard" houses
Major General Nguyen Hong Nguyen said that to overcome this, the first thing is to help people have a solid, stable house, truly a place for households to develop their socio-economy, study and return.
"From the perspective of the police force in ensuring national security and maintaining social order and safety, we see that the Program to Eliminate Temporary Houses and Eliminate Dilapidated Houses is a nationwide, national love, imbued throughout the history of national defense and national construction of our country.
Up to now, 80 years of independence, we have still fostered and developed that spirit, affirming the good nature as well as the humanistic value brought by the regime. Organizing housebuilding in all regions of the country, our People's Public Security force is just one of the small factors that the entire political system is involved in, and there is a great contribution from ministries, branches, localities and enterprises.
The hands are very warm, the hearts are very loving, we have built houses. The solid houses that have been donated to the people in recent times are truly a fulcrum to help each citizen and each household firmly cling to the land and the village and are a fulcrum for the People's Public Security force to maintain national security and social order and safety. Especially socio-economic development in localities has made very long and very sustainable progress" - Major General Nguyen Hong Nguyen said.
The Deputy Chief of the Office of the Ministry of Public Security gave an example, in places such as Son La, Lai Chau, Nghe An..., the lands that the footsteps of the People's Public Security force have passed through, donated, and left to the people and households houses that are not large but have 3 hard "hard roofs, hard walls, hard foundations".
