After a year of operating the two-level local government model, Phu Tho education maintains stability, maintains quality and belongs to the top 5 leading localities in the country.

According to Phu Tho e-Portal, after the merger, Phu Tho became one of the localities with the largest education scale in the country with nearly 1 million students, 1,957 educational institutions and more than 60,000 officials, teachers, and staff.

Immediately after the merger, the province focused on perfecting the mechanism, policies and unified management document system. The Provincial Party Committee Executive Committee issued Resolution No. 24-NQ/TU on developing education and training to 2030, with a vision to 2045. The Provincial People's Committee implemented education development projects, including the project to make English the second language and strengthen foreign language teaching and learning in the period 2026 - 2035.

The Education sector also proactively guides communes and wards to perform management tasks in conditions where there is no longer a district level, promptly removes arising difficulties, and ensures that teaching and learning activities are not interrupted.

In parallel with management innovation, the school network is arranged in a streamlined and effective direction. The whole province reduced 91 public educational institutions, equivalent to 5.33%; reduced 50 school sites, equivalent to 6.93%; reduced 10 Vocational Education - Continuing Education centers.

The work of transferring, rotating and recruiting teachers is being implemented to overcome the local shortage situation, prioritizing difficult areas.

Digital transformation is identified as a key task. From July 2025, the education sector will build a common database, deploy digital records for students and teachers, develop digital transcripts and a school governance platform.

To date, 100% of educational institutions are ready to organize online teaching when necessary; 161 online administrative procedures have been configured and operated synchronously with the national population database.

Thanks to synchronous solutions, the quality of education in the province continues to be maintained at a high level. Phu Tho is in the group of 5 leading localities in the country in education. The targets of universal education and literacy are maintained. At the national excellent student exam, the province had 229 students win prizes, reaching a rate of 83.88%; at the same time, 1 student won a Silver Medal at the 26th Asian Physics Olympiad and 1 student won a Silver Medal at the European Physics Olympiad in 2026.

School facilities continue to be invested with more than 83% of schools meeting national standards and over 95% of classrooms being solid. However, the Education sector still faces the situation of teacher shortage, imbalanced staff structure between localities and educational quality disparities between regions.

In the coming time, the education and training sector will continue to improve mechanisms and policies; improve the capacity of education management at the commune level; promote the application of information technology; solve the teacher shortage situation and prioritize investment in facilities for difficult areas, thereby continuing to improve the quality of comprehensive education.
