Phu Tho province is synchronously implementing many drug prevention and control solutions from the grassroots level, aiming to become a "drug-free" locality by 2030, contributing to ensuring security, order and socio-economic development, according to Phu Tho Provincial e-Portal.
Closely following the direction of Phu Tho Provincial Police, the police forces of localities in the area strengthened the review and management of subjects, promoted propaganda and mobilized the entire political system and people to participate in drug prevention and control.
In Van Mieu commune, the commune police have advised on establishing a team to manage illegal drug users, addicts and after detoxification; assigning officials to monitor cases at risk, and promptly prevent violations. At the same time, more than 1,000 propaganda leaflets were distributed to households and conditional business establishments to raise awareness and promote the role of the masses in denouncing crimes.
Major Nguyen Van Truong - Head of Van Mieu Commune Police (Phu Tho) said that from 2025 to now, no cases, subjects or illegal drug trading points have arisen in the area, affirming the effectiveness of the "drug-free commune" model.
In Doan Hung commune, the management of illegal drug users and Methadone treatment is strictly implemented. Currently, the locality has 14 people participating in treatment, and the results of periodic inspections have not detected any drug-positive cases. In the first six months of 2026, the commune did not have any drug-related incidents.
According to Colonel Truong Quang Hai - Deputy Director of Phu Tho Provincial Police, the goal of building "drug-free communes and wards" not only reduces crime but also reduces the number of addicts and illegal drug users right from the grassroots level, requiring the regular involvement of the entire political system.
In the first 6 months of 2026, the drug crime investigation police force of Phu Tho Provincial Police discovered and arrested 506 cases with 950 subjects. In the peak month as of June 28, functional forces discovered 157 cases, arrested 258 subjects; prosecuted 73 cases with 108 defendants. The whole province currently manages 2,669 drug addicts with records and 1,349 people using illegal drugs.
The synchronous implementation of local management solutions, crime prevention, methadone treatment, detoxification and building the "commune, ward without drugs" model is creating an important foundation for Phu Tho province to gradually realize the goal of building a safe and peaceful living environment for the people.
