The Son La Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has just issued Document No. 1783/SVHTT&DL-QLVHGĐ dated June 19, 2026 on strengthening the management of relics and activities of preserving, restoring, and restoring historical and cultural relics and scenic spots in the province, according to the Son La Provincial Electronic Information Portal (TTĐT).
Over the past time, the work of preserving and promoting the value of relics in Son La has achieved many positive results. The preparation, appraisal, approval and management of relic restoration and embellishment projects have been carried out in accordance with procedures; capital has been disbursed according to regulations.
After completion, the relics are received, managed and exploited effectively by the locality, contributing to meeting the needs of people to visit and learn about culture and history.
The socialization of resources for restoration and embellishment of relics has also received active participation from many organizations and individuals inside and outside the province.
However, there are still some limitations such as the slow progress of project planning for restoration of degraded relics; some relics are encroached upon protection areas. Communication activities, building tourism products and organizing services at some heritage sites are still limited, not clearly promoting the unique cultural identity of the locality.
To improve management efficiency, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of the province requests communes and wards to strengthen the role and responsibility of agencies, units, localities and communities in managing, protecting, and promoting the value of relics. Localities need to strictly control the process of inventorying and ranking new relics; link ranking with the plan to repair, restore and promote the value of relics.
At the same time, strictly implement the 2024 Law on Cultural Heritage and related regulations on investment and construction when implementing projects to preserve, restore, and restore relics. Investors must fully implement procedures and procedures according to regulations; get opinions from relevant specialized agencies and scientists and only implement when appraised and approved by competent authorities.
Projects must ensure the correct implementation of the agreed contents and comments to preserve the original elements that create the value of the relic.
The Department also requested to promote propaganda about the meaning and value of relics; publicize the project content before implementation so that people know, participate in contributing opinions, and create social consensus, especially for relics with spiritual, religious, and belief elements.
After completing the project, localities need to have appropriate forms to introduce the historical, cultural, scientific, and artistic values of the relic; information about construction time, implementing units, and organizations and individuals contributing funds.
In addition, localities need to strengthen inspection and supervision of the work of protecting and promoting the value of relics; promote the community's supervisory role in restoration and embellishment projects. Violations affecting the value of relics must be strictly handled, ensuring harmony between cultural heritage preservation and socio-economic development and sustainable tourism in the locality.
