Prolonged hot weather and increased electricity demand increase the risk of fires and explosions in residential areas, production and business establishments and industrial parks in Phu Tho province.
Faced with that situation, the province has synchronously implemented many solutions, focusing on prevention to protect the lives and property of people, according to the Phu Tho Provincial e-Portal.
According to statistics, in 2025, the whole province recorded 190 fires, causing 1 death, 1 injury, and nearly 298 billion VND in damage. In the first 6 months of 2026, 158 fires were recorded, an increase of 87 cases compared to the same period last year, causing damage of about 18.51 billion VND but no casualties.
Reality shows that many fires originate from electrical short circuits, using overloaded electrical equipment, carelessness when burning incense, cooking or charging electric vehicles improperly. Notably, in May 2026, 2 major fires occurred at Han Viet Halocom Company (Thuy Van Industrial Park) and SYC Green World Co., Ltd. (Binh Xuyen 1 Industrial Park), causing great property damage, warning of the risk of unsafety in production.
To limit the risk of fire and explosion, the Fire and Rescue Police force of the Provincial Police has promoted propaganda. In the first six months of 2026, the force posted 163 news and articles; organized 162 propaganda sessions with more than 42,500 participants. The commune level implemented nearly 11,000 news and articles and more than 1,200 propaganda sessions, attracting over 136,000 participants.
The movement "All people participate in fire prevention and fighting" continues to be expanded with 5,048 civil defense teams, 1,995 "PCCC Safe Family Group" models and 1,017 "Public Fire Stops". Along with that, functional forces mobilized the installation of 11 fire hydrants and awarded more than 4,000 fire extinguishers to policy households and households in difficult circumstances.
Inspection work was also tightened with 2,793 inspections of establishments under management, handling 74 violations, with a total fine of nearly 4.8 billion VND. The commune-level force inspected 4,690 establishments, handling 353 violations.
Captain Bui Van Hao, Deputy Head of the Fire and Rescue Team of Lac Son area (Phu Tho), recommends that people regularly check the electrical system, do not plug many high-capacity devices into the same power outlet, do not charge electric vehicles overnight or when there is no one watching; and equip fire extinguishers, develop escape plans and install the "Fire Alert 114" application.
In the coming time, Phu Tho Provincial Police will continue to strengthen propaganda, inspection, and handling of violations, strictly manage establishments with high fire risk, contributing to minimizing damage and ensuring safety for people in the hot season.
